Inside SORD's mobile clinics

Across much of Sudan, the nearest functioning health facility is hours away — or no longer functioning at all. SORD’s answer is the mobile clinic: a stocked vehicle, a local medical team, and a fixed route of villages that know when to expect it.

How a clinic day works

Each clinic day starts with registration by local volunteers, followed by consultations with nurses and community health workers who live in the region they serve. Essential medicines are dispensed on the spot, and every child under five is screened for malnutrition, with referral pathways to stabilization centres for severe cases.

Because the teams are local, clinics keep running where international staff cannot travel — which is exactly where the need is deepest.

What funding provides

Partner funding covers medicine kits, fuel and vehicle maintenance, salaries for local nurses and health workers, and nutrition supplements for children and mothers. Every clinic day is documented and reported back to the funding partner.
